At Perivale Primary School, we are committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where every child, regardless of their needs, can thrive. As a mainstream primary school, we recognize and celebrate the diverse abilities of all our pupils and are dedicated to providing high-quality support tailored to individual needs.
Our approach aligns with the Equality Act 2010 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015), ensuring that children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the right support to access a broad and balanced curriculum.
Working in Partnership with Parents
We firmly believe that collaboration with parents and carers is key to ensuring the best outcomes for our children. We work closely with families every step of the way, valuing their expertise and unique insight into their child’s needs. Through regular communication, workshops, and meetings, we create strong partnerships that empower parents to be active participants in their child’s learning journey.
We also collaborate with a range of external professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, School Counsellors, Ealing Primary Centre, SEND Outreach, and Educational Psychologists, to ensure a holistic approach to support.
Our Provision
To meet the needs of all learners, we offer:

Supporting Transitions at Perivale Primary School
At Perivale Primary School, we recognize that transitions—whether into our school, within the school day, or onto a new setting—can be a significant time for children and their families. We are committed to carefully planning and supporting each transition to ensure every child feels confident, secure, and ready for the next step in their learning journey
Starting at Perivale Primary School
We work closely with families and previous settings to gather key information about each child’s needs, strengths, and support strategies. This includes:
- Enhanced transition visits – Opportunities for children and families to visit the school and meet key staff.
- Parent meetings – Open conversations to understand individual needs and ensure a smooth start.
- Social stories & visual resources – Supporting children in becoming familiar with their new environment
Transitions Within the School Day
We understand that smaller daily transitions—such as moving between activities, lessons, or environments—can be challenging for some children. To support this, we use:
- Consistent visual timetables for all children, providing clear structure and predictability.
- Personalized strategies, such as individual schedules, transition objects, or adult support, for those who require more tailored guidance.
- A calm and structured approach, ensuring that children feel prepared and confident for changes throughout the day.
Moving to a New Setting
When children transition to secondary school or another setting, we work closely with families and the receiving school to ensure a well-planned and supportive process, which may include:
- Early transition planning and meetings with new school staff to share key information.
- Additional transition visits for children who may need extra time to adjust.
- Personalized transition books or social stories to help children understand their new school.
- Opportunities for parents to meet with SENCOs and key staff to ensure continuity of support.
By prioritising communication, careful planning, and individualised approaches, we ensure that all transitions—big or small—are positive experiences that set children up for success.
